Lesson 2: Worldviews

Let's get in to some of the book in more detail...

Picture
Everyone expressing an opinion on the web is showing you some of their worldview. What they say tells you what they think about life, God, and other important topics. Cora realizes this when she reads her friend's comment. She doesn't get why her friend thinks differently. She's about to learn that all of us have worldviews.
Picture
A worldview is something we never think about much, but we live it out every day. It's those big questions you lie in bed at night thinking about. Is God out there? Is there life after this life? What's my purpose?
Picture
Your worldview doesn't affect EVERYTHING in life of course. For instance, picking a cereal in the morning or  which shoes you're going to wear. Anyone can do these things without worrying about their worldview. And yes, carrots do not have a worldview.

That quote by Josh McDowell is very important. If a Christian doesn't know her worldview, she can't make holy decisions. She would be like anyone else in the world, making it up as she goes, relying on her feelings, not God's word. Remember, the Bible says not to trust our hearts, because "The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9)

Notice that the points outlined on this page of the book answer all the BIG questions about the world. Start learning these points and your walk with Christ will become stronger and your decisions will become more Biblical!
Picture
On this page, we saw three worldviews (or ideas in a worldview) and how they just don't work in the real world. Many people never question their worldview, even when it has contradictions. Aaron's idea that there is no truth is something that many people believe today. But this idea is obviously false. This idea that there is no truth is called a self-refuting statement. When you say it, it should explode because it's so wrong! :D It's like saying, I can't write any English words--but just writing that shows that you can! So the statement is not true!
Picture
Memes are those quotes or pictures that are all over the internet. Here, Betty posts one that she thinks is true and is saying that truth can't come from any other place, like religion or the Bible. She is showing a little of her worldview. Cora gets a lesson from the disembodied voice about scientism. When you see something like this and you think it may not be true, take the time to figure out why it sounds wrong. Many times, they contain very poor thinking, especially atheistic memes.
